Program & Teaching Assistant for Full Life Academy

Location: AutismUp at the Golisano Autism Center, Rochester, New York

Hours: Full time, 36-40 hours per week, afternoons, evenings, and weekends (flexible schedule required)

Position Summary:

The Program & Teaching Assistant is responsible for supporting the Full Life Academy on a day-to-day capacity. Will maintain flexibility in meeting the needs of the Program, which consists of supporting the staff, participants, families, and the overall Full Life Academy Program Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates and provides direct instruction and oversight to participants with various abilities in a classroom/community-based setting and virtually
  • Assists Director of the Center for Community Transition and teachers to develop classes and lesson plans
  • Assists with the management of volunteers/interns/ community partners and direct support staff to be effectively assisting and supervising participants
  • Communicates with the Director of the Center for Community Transition and teachers on participant’s progress.
  • Responsible for individual goals and objectives of participants.
  • Responsible for the supervision and safety of program participants.
  • Helps facilitate social interactions between participants in the program.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 2+ years of related professional experience required
  • Experience working with individuals with ASD or other disabilities
  • Strong language and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Valid Driver’s License

Teaching & Program Assistant for Full Life Academy

Location: AutismUp at the Golisano Autism Center, Rochester, New York

Hours: PT, 15-20 hours per week, afternoons, evenings, and weekends (flexible schedule required) Strong potential for additional hours or a full-time schedule if desired

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Position Summary:

The Program Assistant is responsible for supporting the Full Life Academy on a day-to-day capacity. Will maintain flexibility in meeting the needs of the Program, which consists of supporting the staff, participants, families, and the overall Full Life Academy Program Department.

Personal Fitness Instructor

Location: AutismUp at the Golisano Autism Center, Rochester, New York

Hours: Part-time, including afternoons, evenings, and weekends, with the potential to increase to full-time

Position Summary:

The Personal Fitness Instructor will facilitate and provide direct instruction in an individual fitness-based program. Program will focus on fitness related activities and tailored specifically for each participant. Must be able to modify exercises based on participant needs as well as be able to motivate participants to reach their individualized goals.

Responsibilities:

Connect with each participant and/or family members to create an individualized fitness plan. Coordinate and schedule individual training sessions with participants and/or family members. Demonstrate various exercises and routines. Supervise participant’s exercise routines and assist them in utilizing the correct techniques to minimize injury and improve fitness. Monitor individual goals and objectives of participants while providing families progress updates. Responsible for the supervision and safety of program participants. Instructs and motivates individuals and groups in physical activities, including but not limited to: stretching, cardiovascular, exercise, and strength training. Works closely with the Fitness Coordinator with ensuring the AutismUp Fitness Programs remain innovative both from equipment and support perspective.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor Degree preferred
  • Personal Fitness Certification required
  • 2+ years professional experience preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with ASD or other disabilities
  • Experience/training in Adaptive P.E. helpful

Must be able to lift 35 lbs. and are physically able to maneuver safely throughout the Fitness Room and Gymnasium.


Program Support Coach

Location: AutismUp at the Golisano Autism Center, and other locations in the community

Hours: Part-time, afternoons, evenings and weekends

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside participants to help with achievement of individual goals and objectives
  • Supervision and safety of program participants
  • Support the Program Facilitator and the objectives of the program
  • Assist the Program Facilitator in the social development and behavior management of participants

Qualifications:

Passion for working with children with different abilities 2+ years of childcare experience High School education, some college preferred


Sports Coordinator

Location: AutismUp at the Golisano Autism Center

Hours: Part-time, 20-25 hours a week, afternoons, evenings, and weekends (flexible schedule required)

Position Summary: The Sports Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of teaching, oversight, and leadership roles to support the programming department, particularly in regard to AutismUp’s expanding offerings in the area of sports and fitness. They will provide direction and peer-to-peer support to facilitators, support staff, and volunteers. They will regularly communicate with Supervisor and coordinate with other team members on applicable operational and programmatic matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sports programs that cater to various age groups and skill levels, promoting inclusivity and participation.
  • Organize and schedule all sports events, including tournaments, leagues, and matches, ensuring efficient use of facilities and resources.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of sports programs and events through feedback collection and analysis, make adjustments as necessary to improve participant satisfaction and engagement.
  • Support the AutismUp staff and the objectives of the program.
  • Responsible for the supervision and safety of program participants.
  • Responsible for individual goals, objectives, safety zones, and “quicklooks” of participants, including all relevant documentation.
  • Assist with facilitating social interactions between participants in the program.
  • Completes progress notes / metrics and other necessary documentation by the end of shift.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience as a coach, referee, or player in a variety of sports
  • Non-profit experience working with individuals with ASD or other disabilities

Human Resources Assistant

Location: AutismUp at the Golisano Autism Center, Rochester, New York

Hours: Full-time, 30 hours per week, flexible hours with some regular evenings and weekends

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Pay Range: $18.00 - $21.00

Position Summary:

The Human Resources Assistant will provide support to the Business Office team in various capacities. This position will be responsible for recruitment and hiring of direct support staff, conducting background checks, filing, assisting HR Manager with employee recognition, on-boarding, and volunteer coordination for the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment of direct support hourly staff
  • Conduct background and reference checks for direct support hourly staff
  • Create and distribute job postings for direct support staff
  • Maintain Human Resources files
  • Support HR Manager in staff recognition and staff communication
  • Support HR Manager with on-boarding tasks and working with supervisors on technology needs
  • Volunteer Coordination for the organization
  • Help track PTO accruals and usage
  • Assist staff gain access to specific systems and introduce password manager, when appropriate
  • Research and implement a new staff badging system
  • Support CFO with analytical work around staff hours
  • Support Business Office staff at AU organizational events

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2-3 years of office or Human Resources experience
  • Experience in non-profit or/and educational settings preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe, Canva, Monday and Word Press
