Program Assistant

Location: AutismUp at the Golisano Autism Center, Rochester, New York

Hours: Full time, 30 hours per week, afternoons, evenings and weekends (flexible schedule required)

Position Summary:

The Program Assistant is responsible for supporting the Program Department on a day-to-day capacity. Will maintain flexibility in meeting the needs of the Program, which consists of supporting the staff, participants, families, and the overall Program Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct support in a variety of roles, including but not limited to, support staff, flex, and facilitation.
  • Support the AutismUp staff and the objectives of the program.
  • Responsible for individual goals, objectives, safety zones, and “quicklooks” of participants.
  • Assist with facilitating social interactions between participants in the program.
  • Responsible for the supervision and safety of program participants.
  • Assist the AutismUp staff in the social development and behavior/crisis management of participants.
  • Completes progress notes / metrics and other necessary documentation by the end of shift.
  • Develop, implement, monitor and report on progress and goal objectives of the individuals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of related professional experience required
  • Experience working with individuals with ASD or other disabilities
  • Strong language and communication skills (written and oral)

Personal Fitness Instructor

Location: AutismUp at the Golisano Autism Center, Rochester, New York

Hours: Part-time, afternoons, evenings and weekends

Position Summary: The Personal Fitness Instructor will facilitate and provide direct instruction in an individual fitness-based program. Program will focus on fitness related activities and tailored specifically for each participant. Must be able to modify exercises based on participant needs as well as be able to motivate participants to reach their individualized goals.

Responsibilities: Connect with each participant and/or family members to create an individualized fitness plan. Coordinate and schedule individual training sessions with participants and/or family members. Demonstrate various exercises and routines. Supervise participant’s exercise routines and assist them in utilizing the correct techniques to minimize injury and improve fitness. Monitor individual goals and objectives of participants while providing families progress updates. Responsible for the supervision and safety of program participants. Communicate with Program Director on participant’s progress.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; bachelor’s degree or college experience in related field preferred. Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities a plus.
  • The Personal Fitness Instructor is required to have a personal fitness certification, and a good understanding of physical fitness, exercise science, exercise techniques, and personal training.
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs. and are physically able to maneuver safely throughout the Fitness Room and Gymnasium

Program Facilitator

General Qualifications:

  • Passion for working with children with different abilities
  • 2+ years of experience working with children with ASD

  • Bachelor’s degree (or currently enrolled) in related field: Psychology, OT, PT, SLP, Social Work, or Special Ed. or 2+ years of related professional experience.

Job Responsibilities: • Facilitate and instruct participants with various abilities in a classroom-based setting • Collaborate with Educational Specialist to design curriculum • Help manage and direct support staff to be effectively assisting and supervising participants • Responsible for the supervision and safety of program participants • Help facilitate social interactions between participants in the program


Program Support Coach

General Qualifications:

  • Passion for working with children with different abilities
  • 2+ years of childcare experience
  • High School education, some college preferred

Job Responsibilities: • Work alongside participants to help with achievement of individual goals and objectives • Supervision and safety of program participants • Support the Program Facilitator and the objectives of the program • Assist the Program Facilitator in the social development and behavior management of participants
